Much like this one, mine was a classic. If I remember correctly, it was branded "White." Another family member has it, at least it is still around!
My story has been told before, I started on my Irish Grandmother's
Treadle Sewing machine. It had one bobbin and one spool of thread, it
was red. I pulled a white sheet off my mother's clothes line, drew up my
own pattern for a crop top and a pair of Bermuda shorts. I used the red
thread for construction and for top stitching. We had a family reunion
on Sunday, this was Friday. The rest is history. Everyone complimented
my skills, a passion was born. My fraternal grandmother was a
seamstress, she had many private clients. We didn't live near her, but I
think her skills may have traveled via DNA! My aunt was a consummate
seamstress, I did see her often, she made my cousin's clothes, and she
was always dressed with impeccable style. I was fortunate to inherit
many of her items via the family pass-down process and by studying her
work, I learned here and there. I also literally "inherited" clothes
from family members who had gone to their reward. What is now an entire
sewing movement, remaking thrifted clothing, I was doing in 1961!
